Attempt at Earthy Beads!!!

Well, last night I made a few beads, but wanted to show my favorites!! Naos, (a wonderful glass artist that I mentioned in a prior post) was kind enough to share some of her priceless secrets with us!!! She so soooooo nice and posted a tutorial for her "Dragon Scale Beads"!!! Here is what I came up with :) They are not nearly as spectacular as hers, but I really like how they came out!! Let me know what you think! Alan (if you and my mom are reading this ..lol) these were the tutorial beads I was talking about :)

Oh....and if your interested in seeing the tutorial...you can go HERE!!!

this one is my favorite!!!!

I just heard the FedEx guy drop a package at my front door!!!! Yeah!!! my glass is here!!! Gotta run...will post more later :)

Well I was really excited when I went to the kiln this morning because the bead fairy did not switch out my beads in the middle of the night :) Here are the focals I made last night and I am really excited to say that they turned out just like I wanted them too !!!!! YEAH!!! They are really big and chunky and would go great on cording or a simple silver chain!! Let me know what you think!

I will take pictures of them out in the sunlight later today. The sun does amazing things with the reactive glass!! Like feathers of a peacock!!!

Also....go check out these amazing orchid rings by JC Herrell!!!! There is a really funny and nice glass artist who makes unbelievable beads, well she has made really amazing glass rings that are orchids...go check them out!!

Beading MOJO

Oh my goodness, I had the BEST torch session tonight!!!! I had great bead MOJO on all the beads I made!! I love it when that happens...its not frequent enough!
Anyway, I really hope the bad bead fairy does not show up during the night and change out the beads that are in my kiln right now!!! It is hard to tell how a bead will look when you are done with it at the torch and put it away into the kiln...you dont really know how the colors will look until in the morning because hot glass does not always look like cold glass. I really hope that when I open that kiln tomorrow those beads look like I imagine they will :) :) :)

I have been working with a wonderful reactive glass from double helix. It is not my first time to work with this glass, but I think I am finally forming a working relationship with it :) It's very very very tricky to use...you have to put it into the flame JUST right and cross your toes and look a little side ways for it to work, but I think we have come to an agreement....all will be known tomorrow. If I am sulking then you know we have not yet decided to see eye to eye...but my better judgement (okay...it might be the Sam Adams :)) tells me that we have finally found out how to work together (when I say "we" I mean me and this tempermental yet wonderful glass)
Until then.... cross your fingers, your toes, and anything else you may be able to get into that position :)....

I will post pics tomorrow...whether it be a celebration or pathetic sad day :)
Until then.....have a wonderful evening!!!

Carey (aka crazy bead lady)....yep that's right mom...the apple did not fall far :)

PICTURES

Well here they are....I plan on experimenting with leather (I have some neat ideas - we'll see if they actually come out how I imagine them :)

Let me know what you think. I was trying to make "masculine" beads...did I pull it off???

Longest Thursday Ever :)

It has been a long, long day. I am home today with my sweet little girl who got herself in trouble yesterday at school!! There has been a little boy that she just cant seem to get along with and well yesterday all "you know what" broke loose!! Needless to say I got a call from the principal! My sweet little girl!!!! I wont get into all the details but both of them are out of school today! She's 9, doesnt take crap from anyone and well apparently this little boy has the same personality and the two of them decided they were gonna act on thier frustration...AGHHHHH!!!! Deep breaths!!!
I got her little butt up early ...made her clean her room, finish all her homework and now she is writing an essay on ways to handle bad situations.

Anyway, enough of that. I will hopefully have my camera in order to post some pictures later tonight. I have been working on "abstract" pendants....will have to see what you think. I have also been working on a men's line of jewelry. Scott (my dear bf) has been bugging me to make him something to wear....we shall see :)

I just wanted to dedicate the rest of this post to some pretty amazing people out there. I am a member of a forum called wetcanvas where a great group of guys and gals get together to give amazing an priceless support and advice! I do have a few "favorites" if you will and wanted to share thier amazing talent will all of you. Each of them inspire me in sooooo many ways!!! (Is there anyone out there actually reading this other than my mom????)

Anyway I would first love to mention Kerry from Kabsconcepts! She is an amazing artist with fun and colorful beads and jewelry. I dont know Kerry all that well, but feel like I have known her for a while because I read her blog all the time. If you would like a good laugh and enjoy looking at beautiful beads and jewelry I highly recommend you stop by!!!

I also LOVE the beads from a very talented lady named
Anastasia! She has a quality and design like no other. I am always in awe when I see what she comes up with!! Go check her out!!!

Then there is
Kim Neely. It was her beads on ebay that inspired me to look into lampworking! This talented lady is amazing!!! You just have to see her beads to really understand! I also LOVE to read her mothers blog!!! She makes me laugh until my sides hurt!! Though I have never met either of these lovely ladies I really admire them both (I love her mother's outlook on life :))

There is another artist that I love who goes by Naos on Wetcanvas. Her beads are just lovely. She etches alot of her beads which gives them an amazing satiny matte finish. They are just lovely, its hard to describe them, you really just have to
see them!!!

And I dont want to forget
Lavender Creek!!! I LOVE LOVE her beads!!! They are unique and whimsical...I only wish I had her control! Just beautiful. This lovely lady has more talent in her pinky fingernail than I have in my entire body!!! LOL

Really I could go on and on and on...there are soo many amazing artists out there!
Just wanted to share!!
Kerry, if you are reading this...I have so much respect for you!! Thank you for all your kindness and help!!

Well....off to see if I can get those darn batteries re-charged :)

Is it Tuesday already??

Where have the last several days gone?? I have been a bad blogger yet again....are we starting to see a pattern here?? hmmmmm
Well, the show on Saturday was just great. I had alot of sales and met some wonderful people. My neighbor was a lovely lady named Barbara and we had a great time!!! Before they even allowed customers to come through I made my first purchase....one of Barbara's purses...and let me tell you ... I love it! I need to post a picture (yes...camera out of juice AGAIN!!!)
visit her website www.theseatofyourpants.com
She makes the cutes purses.....and I do believe I remember (because I heard it over and over and over again all day long LOL) "all of the outside pockets are fully functional, the board inside is waterproof so if your purse gets wet, it will not lose it's shape". That has been haunting me ever since Saturday. Barbara, if your reading this you were a great neighbor and I enjoyed meeting you (and your purses)!!!

Anyway....I have been busy at the torch and let me tell you.....I think I have found my abstract side. I have some really cool beads to show you....hopefully tomorrow when my batteries are charged!!!
Have a wonderful evening!!
